Hey Artists, this workshop has been designed specifically with you in mind! During this in-person workshop, you will learn to build your own website with the help of a support coach.
Taking place in the Digital Creation Hub at the TOSH Arts Centre in Qualicum Beach, BC.
During our two-day course, you will get hands-on help to understand foundational digital marketing tactics and how to design a website that will help you showcase or sell your work.
With space for only 8 participants seats are sold on a first come first basis.
*The course must have a minimum of 3 participants.
What You Will Learn
During this workshop participants will learn the fundamentals of the following online concepts:
1. SEO (Search Engine Optimization), how to perform foundation keyword research, and how to use these keywords to craft your online artist's statement.
2. Website Accessibility, in many provinces having a web-accessible website, is the law, we will learn the foundational principles of web accessibility
3. How to use the Wix Editor and design a site following current online best practices.
and the best part, you will leave with a fully functional artist portfolio website built and hosted on WIX*.

Participants will be instructed to sign up for a WIX.com account and provide access to the instructor to transfer the pre-built template.

Participants will learn how to use the Wix Editor and begin building their websites.

Participants will spend day 2 populating and editing their Wix Websites

Participants will be provided instructions on how to choose a domain name and connect their website to Google Analytics and the Google Search Console.

Computer or Ipad
Participants will be required to bring their own devices. The device must be able to connect to a wifi connection.
*Tip: Bring your device's charging cord with you.
*For those that choose to work on an iPad, you may experience a lack of functionality within the website editor.
*Mobile phones are not suitable for this workshop.

Written Content
Participants will be required to draft their own written content for display on their website.
Content must be original and participants will have a chance to update this copy at their own pace once the workshop is completed.
If participants have access to a logo, please ensure it is ready and available on your device, or you will be shown how to add a text-based logo.

Photos of their Artwork
In order to maximize our time during this workshop, it is advised that participants organize the artwork images they would like to display on their websites.
As this workshop is limited in time, participants may not be able to upload their full photo library on to the website.

How do I pay for this workshop?
By clicking register, you will be directed to the online payment page. Participants can pay online using Paypal or Credit Card and your payment is processed securely using the WIX payments app.
If participants would like to register but cannot pay online, cash or cheque is accepted; please email Lys@mydigitalpresence.coach for further instructions.
I registered but cannot make the workshop
All Fees are non-refundable, due to limited space, I am unable to offer refunds.
I may need extra help
Participants that may need extra assistance to help them navigate their computer, may bring an assistant at no extra cost. For those that want to register as a group or collective an additional fee of $30 will be charged, please email Lys@mydigitalpresence.coach to arrange for group enrollment, this will be subject to seat availability.
I wasn't able to launch my website
Participants will receive a one-time code for a discounted 50% off one-on-one coaching session with Lys. Sessions are done over Zoom and can be used to review and take your website live, or for a social media coaching session, sessions are 45 minutes in length.
Why do I need to pay an additional fee?
The workshop price covers the classroom rental and instructors' time, an additional fee must be paid to Wix to launch your website to the public, this fee is called a hosting fee and you have the option to choose from a variety of hosting plans to fit your budget.
I want to host my site with a different provider.
Unfortunately, this is not possible. This workshop uses the Wix website editor and the site cannot be transferred to a different provider. If you would like to discuss having a custom website built, please visit our services page for more information. My Digital Presence Coach choose the Wix platform because of its ease of use, the backend CRM (customer relationship manager), and their excellent knowledge base and customer support.
I do not have a computer or Ipad
As this workshop is performed in person, all participants must have access to their own laptop, computer, or iPad. Participants that do not have access to these devices will be unable to participate in this workshop.
